Coalition Formation Processes with Belief Revision among Bounded-rational Self-interested Agents

چکیده
This paper studies coalition formation among self-interested agents that cannot make sidepayments. We show that -core stability reduces to analyzing whether some utility pro le is maximal for all agents. We also show that strategy pro les that lead to the -core are a subset of Strong Nash equilibria. This fact carries our -core-based stability results directly over to two other strategic solution concepts: Nash equilibrium and Coalition-Proof Nash equilibrium. Coalition Formation among Bounded Rational Agents
This paper analyzes coalitions among self-interested agents that need to solve combinatorial optimization problems to operate e ciently in the world. By colluding (coordinating their actions by solving a joint optimization problem), the agents can sometimes save costs compared to operating individually. A model of bounded rationality is adopted, where computation resources are costly. It is not...

متن کاملSelf-enforcing coalitions with power accumulation
Agents endowed with power compete for a divisible resource by forming coalitions with other agents. The coalition with the greatest power wins the resource and divides it among its members. The agents’ power increases according to their share of the resource. We study two models of coalition formation where winning agents accumulate power and losing agents may participate in further coalition f...
متن کاملA Fostering cooperation through dynamic coalition formation and partner switching
In this paper we tackle the problem of maximizing cooperation among self-interested agents in a resource exchange environment. Our main concern is the design of mechanisms for maximizing cooperation among self-interested agents in a way that their profits increase by exchanging or trading with resources. Although dynamic coalition formation and partner switching (rewiring) have been shown to pr...
متن کاملCoalition and Network Formation
The formation of groups and networks is undoubtedly a central theme in the social sciences. Sociologists have long studied the formation of social groups and the importance of social networks, psychologists have discussed the importance of group behavior and group in‡uence on individual behavior, political scientists have always been strongly interested in the formation of lobbies and political...
